Good to know
A cornerstone of UK roots reggae, Black Roots return with the uncompromising sound and conscious lyrics that made them one of Britain’s defining reggae bands. Formed in Bristol in 1979, they broke through in 1981 when John Peel championed their debut EP on BBC Radio 1. Their politically charged lyrics quickly struck a chord, giving voice to a generation navigating the injustices of Thatcherite Britain. After disappearing from the scene in the early ’90s, the band found an unexpected second life through the loyalty of fans who continued to seek out their music. A series of reissues reignited interest, paving the way for new albums and a long-awaited return to the stage. Decades on, Black Roots are still making their voices heard, proving that their message of resistance, unity and social consciousness is as relevant as ever. Enjoy a view overlooking the stage from our mezzanine restaurant. CLICK HERE to see a detailed seat map of the restaurant. This event is strictly 18+ with ID required on arrival at the venue.
